Golf. The game of all games. Sometimes it drags us into the sand and other times it flies like an eagle straight into the hole. Whether you walk the course at sunrise or round the turn at sunset I think we can all say that this game has our heart.
My heart was clenched tight this morning with emotion, but it burst open reminding me what it means to "play golf". I had the honor to welcome a dear family to our course to remember a much adored woman who passed on. This classy lady was beloved by her family and all of us at Monona. My partner-in-crime, aka the best Superintendent in the business, Shannon Barstow, came up with the idea to dedicate a bench on the course in her honor. League friends, fellow golfers and our team donated the funds to purchase the bench. This morning the immediate family arrived for the dedication and was surrounded by her Monona Golf course family. My heart burst open because it reminds me that golf is about the friends who become family on and off the course. In between willing the ball to sit or lamenting the dreaded sh*!*@ we talk about the dogeared turns in life as friends do because, heck, we've all been in the rough! As the summer golf season draws to a close take a moment and think about the family we've built in this game. As for me, THANK YOU for enriching my life with your friendship and extended family!

I am honored to be part of the future of the game my mom taught me to love and appreciate. Here's to all of the girls out there chasing their dreams. #LittleGirlsBIGDreams
THE LPGA LAUNCHES “CHANGING THE FACE OF THE GAME” CAMPAIGN PHOENIX, March 15, 2017 – As girls’ golf continues to ride a remarkably strong surge of growth in the United States, the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) will today launch a “Changing the Face of the Game” campaign ahead of this week’s Bank of Hope Founders Cup. Girls under the age of 18 represent the fastest growing sector in the U.S. golf population since 2010 and more than 60,000 girls were engaged last year by the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf initiative, a staggering increase of 1,000 percent since the Founders Cup was launched in 2011. The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program, which began in Phoenix in 1989, specializes in providing a “girl-friendly” environment for juniors to learn and play the game of golf and the program has expanded to nearly 400 sites across the United States, with close to 40 being added just this year. To mark the campaign’s launch, Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan and LPGA Foundation President Nancy Henderson will hold a press conference at JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, along with Kyla Wilde, a product of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Phoenix. “We learned early on with Girls Golf that if you let young women come together in an all-girls environment, they begin to really enjoy the game and the retention rate is unbelievable,” said LPGA Commissioner Whan. “We introduced the Founders Cup, back in 2011, when we all decided to play for no purse and just pass it all forward to support Girls Golf — acting with a Founder mentality. When I talk to an LPGA Founder today, she is proud of what has happened to television and excited about our growth in purses, but what she really likes is what we are doing in terms of leaving the game better for the next generation of young women, and building a pipeline that can truly change the ‘face’ of golf longer-term.” https://youtu.be/fP9-EbgLFBY We have finally made the turn out of winters grip and are heading into the back 9 hopeful for spring! I'm ready...how about you? From the course today it looks like the snow is starting to bid farewell.
Hang in there everyone. Individual, Group and LPGA Girls Golf Club is ready to tee off, soon! Even though the weather outside is windy and cold that doesn't mean we are not thinking about the golf season. I have been working with the LPGA and am proud to announce that I will be the Director of the LPGA Girls' Golf Club site at Monona Golf Course for 2017!
This program is designed to get girls' between 6-13 involved in the game of golf and show them how much fun the game of golf is! We are still in the beginning stages but will have information out by the middle of February so that everyone can see what the excitement is about. This will be a fun experience for all girls no matter what level or ability! Come out, bring your friends and see what golf is all about! More information coming soon..... This has been an exciting year!
More to come about the change in the name from Golf Revolution to Change Golf Instruction; however, rest assured Sue and I am committed to the city of Madison and the greater surrounding area. Our goal is to offer effective and fun golf instruction. We understand learning golf goes beyond technique to help you enjoy and succeed at the game in a judgement-free environment. I can't wait to kick off 2017 with Change Golf Instruction and as Head Golf Coach for the Girls and Boys Team at Madison East High School. Spent the evening with the Madison Golf Meetup Group at Yahara Hills. The sun was shining and the greens were rolling. A perfect way to kick off the season!May 1st doesn't have to mean "Mayday Mayday" for your game. If you went to the range in April and hit a few balls only to wonder, "Where did THAT shot come from?" no need to fret!
I will be at Yahara Hills and Monona available Monday - Saturday starting May 11th. In addition, I am teaching Beginner and Intermediate 5-week Group lessons at Yahara Hills starting May 11th and May 16th. I'm looking forward to a great summer and helping you achieve your goals! Contact me at tina@golfrevolution.club or text/call me at 309-825-7312. We may have snow one minute and sunshine the next, but don't be fooled because spring has arrived! You know what that means? Golf season is ready to TEE OFF!
As a 20+ year instructor I have found that regardless of one's abilities a spring tune-up never hurts. Even the scratch golfers could benefit from dusting off the winter cob webs with a professional instructor. Join me in May for several group classes at Yahara Hills. I'm available starting May 11th for Individual and group lessons at Monona Golf Course and Yahara Hills. |
